Group

The “Irish Way” dancing group was born when nine talented Romanians united their passion for Irish dancing, alongside with the ambition of bringing this for of art on the scenes and in the pubs in Romania. Although two of the members of the group knew each other a long time before it all began, the history of the group began only after some of the workshops held by Anne Marie Cunningham in Bucharest.

After every workshop it is accustomed that the students with the higher level to organize a dance demo. In February 2008 they were invited to dance a few numbers for Ireland’s Day (St. Patrick’s Day), the first time when it was celebrated outside the pubs, in the very heart of Bucharest.

One more month after the event and the nine dancers start to think further and to aim higher. In April a new idea is born: officially founding the troupe under the name of “Irish Way”. A new gig is presented on the stage of the Metropolis Theatre at the end of April and thanks to the success, the troupe gains more and more confidence, which only makes its members even more ambitious.

Between the evenings spent in the Irish pub atmosphere, dancing alongside the two “minstrels” - Stike Molnar and Radu Szucs – the training room is visited more often and the floor is more “harassed” by the long drilling sessions and choreography work. Thus, with an official name, lots of passion and higher jumps, the members of the group are packing their bags and traveling through the country and across the border, spreading the joy of Irish dancing and the Irish spirit in Bucharest, Braşov, Sibiu and Salzburg.

Where will we go next? Stick around and we’ll tell you.
